I know how to make a movie mix on my Flip camera using their software, however, I would like to put the finished product (edited to make it look like an actual movie) onto my actual Flip camera. I’m not sure how to do this!

You don’t. The process is: capture video with camcorder, transfer to computer, edit… With consumer flash memory, hard disc drive or DVD camcorders, there is no “return the edited video to the camcorder”.
If you *must* do that, you need to use miniDV tape camcorders. Most video editors that can deal with importing video from miniDV tapbe based camcorders can export the video back out to the miniDV tape in the camcorder… using firewire (not USB).

I own a Flip UltraHD (received as a gift). It does what it’s designed for but it’s not ideal for my work. None of the Flips have a external microphone jack. In fact the only pocket cam I know of that has one is the Kodak Zi8. For your projects, you may want to consider the Zi8. It can also take still images and can use memory cards. None of the Flips do that. Also the Zi8 uses an A/C power charger instead of having to always use a USB like the Flips do.

It depends what you want to use it for.
Pros:
Small – can fit in pocket.
Cheap.
Cons:
Small lens and small imaging chip = poor low light behavior.
Short battery life.
No mic jack.
No manual audio control.
Probably no AV-in.
Captured video is highly compressed and requires conversion before editing.
All the cameras in this range are pretty much the same – Take a look at the Flip, though. Just pick one and jump in.

I have a Hi-8 (tape) digital camcorder. I sometimes convert some of the tape’s images into jpg photos. The images tape lets me produce images that are 640 pixels by 480 pixels.
The camcorder is about 6 years old.

DV camcorder will also give you the same 640 x 480 resolution if you are capturing the photo from a video. These camcorders also let you take still pictures and sometimes record in internal memory and sometimes in a separate memory card. The size of these still pictures vary (starts from 640×480 and goes upto 1600×1200.) Some panasonic MiniDV camcorders have upto 3 million pixels for photos.
The reason why the resolution is 640×480 for still images from video is that the video is not recorded in pixels, instead it uses lines.
